New Microsoft Vista News

Microsoft has announced that they will release their new operating system, Windows Vista, in three different versions. There will four different version of the home edition: Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, Windows Vista Home Basic Edition and Windows Vista Starter Edition. Microsoft will also release Vista in three different business versions: Windows Vista Enterprise Edition, Windows Vista Professional Edition and Windows Vista Small Business Edition.
They have also announced that to run the 32-bit versions, it is suggested that your computer have at least 512 MB of RAM; and to run the 64-bit version, hailed as the next generation of computing, you will need at least 2GB of Ram!
Windows Vista will not sell well initially because of the RAM it demands. Most advanced computer users use Apple or Linux; while, for the most part, people that run Windows are unfamiliar with much of the advanced elements of computers. Windows wants 2GB of Ram to run their 64-Bit version, and while that will be no problem for avid computer users, it may be too expensive for people that don’t use their computer as much. We will probably find that many people will still be using Windows XP after Vista comes out simply because they can’t afford all of the RAM. Microsoft has, for a time, been losing it’s vast edge in the OS market to companies like Apple, and we will only see more people flock to Apple and Macintosh from Microsoft because Macs will cost just as much as PCs. No longer will two gigabytes of memory be a powerhouse, it will be the standard. Obviously, we will need to more and more Ram to function our computers as time goes on, but Microsoft is ushering in that age too quickly.
