Google buys Writely!

The tech industry is abuzz as yesterday, internet giant Google bought what is widely thought of as the most popular web-based word processor, Writely. Until a few weeks ago, Google was struggling; mainly resulting from their decision to censor results in China. They responded with Google Pages, accidently hinted at a free, unlimited storage "GDrive," accidently leaked screenshots of a Google Calender, and in their biggest step in recuperating, bought Writely. This is a good decision for Google, since they already will have a large user base. Though I wonder why they didn't just create their own word processor. Almost everything they indepependently release is greeted with overwhelming popularity, so why didn't they just make their own? It had been rumoured that they would, but who knows, maybe it was just gossip. Nevertheless, Google has to pleased with their aquisition.
